Editorial. This week in Bali.

So, this is the High Season, folks. Traditionally, the Hari Merdeka holiday, or Independence Day (17 August), is the busiest time of the year in Bali as most of the country is off work for a few days and ready to play. It’s also peak season for people from the south escaping winter, and the northern hemisphere folks are all on summer holiday, too. So, that obviously makes for one big, happy long, long weekend on this island. Enjoy the festivities wherever you may go.

Our pick would be Bonobo on Sunday at Mrs Sippy
, which was a hellova good show last time he was here a couple of years ago. The image above is Bonobo headlining Brighton Festival two weeks ago. It will be pretty busy so grab your tickets now. Kudeta’s White Party is on Saturday night and sure to have all the old Seminyak crowd in to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Red Ruby has the Thai techno queen, Nakadia back for another Saturday, and something special for Merdeka Sunday, too.  Meanwhile, just about everywhere else, it’s business as usual. Check the events pages for all the action over the weekend.

Have a great Hari Merdeka weekend. folks
